Advanced Foot Reflexology
Foot reflexology is part of our specialised treatment approach of targeting microsystems of the body, here the feet, as a single body part that is worked to support the whole system.
Foot reflexology is not a foot massage, although it can be relaxing. It is the application of specific pressure and other techniques to activate reflexes on the feet, known to correspond to body and brain via zone therapy (Dr William Fitzgerald and Eunice Ingham.) Such activation enables your practitioner to access and influence systems of the body and brain in order to bring about balance and support health, including symptomatic relief.
East meets west: our integrative approach
Modern reflexology stems from the 20th century work of Fitzgerald's 'Zone Therapy' and Ingham's 'Charted Map of Reflexes' and has a sound growing evidence base with compelling recent research supporting its efficacy.
In a 2024 publication, Kunz and Kunz show neural pathways affected by applied reflexology measured by fMRI brain scanning with promising results among stroke patients. Dr Carol Samuel evidences reflexology for pain and cancer survivorship and Barbara Scott developed reflexology to support reproductive system and fertility.
Foot reflexology is also an energic ancient treatment, and there is anecdotal evidence that suggests reflexology was used in ancient Egypt, Indian and China.
Your advanced reflexologist Anna, fuses the best practice of east and west evidence and energetics, alongside your self report of difficulties and your feet (and ears) as ultimate guide to individualise your treatment.
Anna specialises in using reflexology simultaneously with ear acupuncture to combine two powerful microsystem treatments for enhanced results.
Having 25 years experience with extensive CPD training, Anna has the following areas of specialist interest using foot reflexology:
Womens Health: supporting conception, pregnancy, labour, menopause, hormonal balance, lymphatic drainage
Mental Health: anxiety, depression, stress and other common mental health difficulties.
Addictions: substance misuse and weight management.
Behaviour Change Interventions: combining natural therapies with psychosocial interventions to support change.
CPD training includes:
Advanced Reflexology Techniques (Tony Porter)
Maternity Reflexology: supporting conception, pregnancy and post partum (Sally Earlam)
Fertility Reflexology (Barbara Scott - webinar series)
Lymphatic Drainage Techniques (Sally Earlam)
Reflexology for Pain (Dr Carol Samuel)
Nerve Reflexology Techniques (Dr Carol Samuel)
Vertical Reflex Therapy (Lynne Booth)
Reflexology for Women's Health (Hagar Basis.)
Please note: reflexology is not a diagnostic tool and it does not replace usual medical care, but can be integrated with it to support your wellbeing naturally.

Integrative Advanced Foot Reflexology and Advanced Auricular Acupuncture Treatment
Integrating foot reflexology with auricular (ear) acupuncture aims to optimise treatment effects as two powerful microsystems target bodily systems and brain chemistry simultaneously. Each treatment is individualised according to your self report of symptoms and the feet and ears as final guide for your practitioner, as the body comes into balance over progressive treatments..
The process of this integrative treatment is as follows. Hair breath auricular acupuncture needles are first inserted into the external ears (auricle) according to active acupoints linked to your treatment goals. Your practitioner will then move to your feet and complete a foot reflexology treatment for the remainder of the treatment. The needles will be removed at the end of the treatment to as not to disturb your relaxation.
Since the vagal nerve can easily be accessed through the auricle, as it innervates just under the surface of the skin in the concha (shell like) part of the ear, calming treatment effects should be felt as your parasympathetic nervous system will be activated via the vagal nerve.

Origins of hand and foot reflexology appear to date back to ancient Egypt. Inscriptions found in the physicians tomb at Saqqara, Egypt. The hieroglyphics translate as "Don't hurt me." The practitioner's reply, "I shall act so you praise me."
